- If you want to be a great swimmer you need to practice your swim, over and over.
- If you want to be a great golf player you need to practice your swing, over and over.
- If you want to be a great pianist you need to practice your scales, over and over.
Simply put; if you want to be a great at anything you just need to practice it, over and over.
A well know phrase and in most cases very true. The more you repeat a certain action the better you’ll become at it.
This is one of the reasons why your older employees are often better at certain tasks. Simply because of (but not limited to) the amount of repetitions they’ve done their work during their life.
Repetition is the mother of all skill – Tony Robbins
Can repetition also be the key to failure?
But as always, nothing is true all the time. Off course repetition doesn’t lead to success when having to do the same repeating tasks in a digital world manually.
That will just soon become boring. You’ll also lose your focus which will lead to more chance of human error in the manual tasks.
In our field service world there are a lot of repeating work orders. Maintenance needs to be done at least once every year, or maybe even more often than that. Performing an inspection on your clients assets should be scheduled for the coming years to be sure never to miss an appointment. We only can’t plan failures in advance (yet).
Having to create all these repeating orders manually can cause incorrect information being entered on the work order. Or planning work orders for the wrong client at the wrong time. In this case repetition is the key to failure and that is not something we want you to go through.
Planning these repeating work orders had to be done manually in FMP360 until now. But why didn’t we build this feature earlier, you might wonder? This has to do with the history of our platform.
A short history lesson of FMP360
Our FMP360 platform is build to work perfectly together with your back-office. We can interface with all the known big ERP systems out there. And the same goes for all the smaller ones and the weird outliers of the ERP market.
Sometimes that would cost a little more effort, but we’re more than happy to work that out for you, just to help you improve your field service and get all the information to your engineer out in the field.
Last year we launched FMP360 Online. Which is our widely known and respected FMP360 platform, but now accessible directly from the cloud. And who wouldn’t want that?!
With this there is no longer a need for a full project. Which makes this a perfect solution for smaller sized companies. Within a few hours you can get started in our cloud platform and instantly begin with improving your field service processes.
Perfect for small and medium sized businesses that don’t want (or can) invest in a larger project, but just want to get started.
In the old days we advised clients to keep their back-office in the lead when it comes to creating work orders. Most importantly because in most cases all of the client data, maintenance agreements and contract information is stored in your ERP. In that case your back-office will send us the work orders with a planned date and time that we make available for the field engineer instantly.
But our FMP360 Online is perfect for small and medium sized businesses and we noticed that a lot of them don’t even use a back-office system.
They want to have a complete platform in which they can manage their clients, work orders and planning of their engineers. Until now you had create a new work order every time for a repeating maintenance order manually. Not the ideal world.
Let your employees do what they do best
Since our latest release it is now possible to create recurring work orders once and have it being repeated for the desired interval and time period. This will take a lot of manual labor out of your planners day.
Planners will now be able to create work orders and plan them on a recursive basis if desired.
To keep things simple to use we chose to use similar settings as you have in Outlook to plan recurring meetings.
In a continues effort to streamline activities for our users, and to continuously improve the user experience,
FMP360 has removed the need to plan repetitive work over and over again.
For organizations that have maintenance (or other types of) work that needs to be done on set schedules, planners can now define the schedule and duration that work should be generated for.
Making sure your planners have more time to focus on doing what they do best: managing your planning and further optimizing your business.
This is one of our ways we help to change field services at Gomocha.
